For DEC Retirees - HP Medical Plan or AON - 11/21
Thanks to those who wrote in with
suggestions and to share their experiences with HP/AON healthcare plans.
Here's what we learned so far.
Don LaBelle: This year’s attempt to sign up
with AON was a disaster. Very long wait times, and then the person
assigned to help from AON was not able to see my data. Very
disappointing. Others I spoke to experienced the same.
Jack Mileski: I went to AON and saved
over 50% on the same Tufts Medicare and Dental plans.
In 2021, I paid approx $550/mo.
($6600/yr.). Now that I signed up with Aon for my Tufts and Dental PPO
and, considering the HP approx $1000 subsidy, my total is $200/mo. for
both me and my wife.
Barrie Hunter:
Dealing with AON has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.
Despite their total lack of customer support and their poor
communications, my transition to Tufts Medicare Preferred Basic Rx
has been approved and I have our cards for next year. When it’s all over,
my out-of-pocket for medical premiums in 2022 will be $1392 a year
versus the $6927 I will have paid for 2021.
